A posteriori refers to when an argument depends on evidence or justification that comes from sense experience. You have to have experienced the world in order for you to have the knowledge. For example, you couldn’t argue that water is wet without having experienced water first. This contrasts to a priori arguments where the evidence is not dependent on sense experience such as maths.
